I don't like to be a fawning fanboy but this operating system is the most killer thing I've used in quite a while.
The attention to detail is extraordinary.
I'll be interesting to see if I still feel this way a month or a year from now...

Save the baby kitty
We rescued a kitten from a tree on Saturday.
Friday night the police were outside checking out a car parked at the park. I was out on the porch watching the fun and I could faintly hear a kitten meowing. By the time the police left the noise had stopped.
The next morning Ayaka and I heard it again from the living room. We went outside and again the noise had stopped. We tried calling and looking but alas...
Still later, we all saw some kind of disturbance in the tree - a bunch of crows were making a commotion and then they flew away.
Finally as I was getting ready to pull the mower out of the garage I spotted something moving. It turned out a kitten had climbed up a tree. It seemed like the kitten couldn't get back down (there were almost no branches).
We pulled out the ladder and I was able to coax the kitten to decend several feet to where I could let her have some food and then bring her the rest of the way down.
Some kids were playing on the basketball court played with kitty for a couple of hours. They ended up taking her home later that day.

Kindergarten
Today is the first day. Since my first day is one of my clearest childhood memories I'll know it'll evoke that when we walk up to the school.

Hello Intel
I bought a Core 2 Duo today.
It's my first new Intel processor since 2002.
Verdict: Thumbs Up!

かつがいっぱい
My nephews came over to spend a few days with my daughter. They'll be here through Saturday.
I found out Ventforet has a game against Kobe on Saturday so I'm making plans to be there. And by the way they made J1 last year, unbeknownst to me.
In the afternoon auntie came over. She had recently found out that a cancer scare turned out to be a false alarm so she was in a fantastic mood and decided to treat us all to a tonkatsu lunch.

School day
We took our daughter to school today since no friends were coming over. I simply couldn't believe how perfect this place was. If it was in Ohio people would be stabbing each other to get their kids into there.
We walked the dog past the school and waved to Ayaka in the afternoon.
We spent the day in Koufu looking at the castle renovations and having lunch.
And I was dumbfounded when we showed up at the end of a long day and our daughter asked us to come back later. We ended up picking her up at 6pm!
Oh and I forgot - there was a centipede in the parking lot where we met Ayane-chan's mother.
My mother in law came home late from a long day trip to Tokyo. She showed us what she was doing which was a beautiful temple song with bells.

Bubbles
We spent most of the day with some friends and their children. There were 6 girls playing with those plastic blowup bubbles.
The food was a fantastic salad, inarizushi, and yakisoba. Later that night we had aji - with that plus some sweets I haven't been this full in months.
I cleaned a virus off the Mebius for my mother-in-law.

Together one more time
They picked me up at the University. It was so great to see them.
My daughter brought me a bottle of ocha. She was so amped up that she got sick later that night.

Travel together
I met a nice woman from Kent on the plane. She was going to visit friends in Tokyo. It was her first trip to Japan.
Seeing her excitement brought back some memories of my first day in Japan which was a pretty weird one.

Travel day
What can I say about the flight?
It was long and boring. The fantastic part was the all female crew. I've never been on a widebody plane before where all 3 crew were female. It was nice to see some progress.

Documents as a web service
Office on the web.
I'm trying out Google docs. Spartan but functional.
Update: The title doesn't seem to come over even though I've got it set to include that "when possible". Rats!

Spring is here
It was a perfect day. The weather was 23C and the sky was blue.
A pale moon hung over the birthday party for my eternally smiling niece, Sarah.
We hung out in the back yard and I found how what a great slugger Vinny is.
The only thing that spoilt this day was the absence of the loves of my life.

Music and Lyrics
I went to see this chick flick today. It was pretty good. Emi loves this kind of movie so I hope we can see it together sometime.
I went to see Charlie's girls play soccer today but because of a mixup about the time I ended up getting there right as the game ended. Rats!

Wordpress compromised
Wordpress 2.1.1 compromised.
I'd like to thank whoever is packaging Wordpress in Fedora extras. I've wanted to switch to yum for my wordpress upgrades for some time but the package in extras had been lagging current until recently.
